I work for North Point Ministries and I come from the McDaniel family, two amazing institutions to whom I’d never intentionally do harm. They are in no way responsible for anything I say here, unless it’s good. In this blog, I’ll do my best to highlight entrepreneurial ideas and thoughts for churches, some of them mine and some of them from others.
New ideas, by their nature, are compared to the “old” way of doing things. In describing the new, sometimes I’ll inevitably take potshots at the old. Forgive my apparent arrogance. It’s just that all the dashboard gauges for the church in America are flashing red.
Maybe a little evasive action is warranted. Let’s try something new…

I just read that “David McDaniel” is coming to a Christian school here in Japan and when I searched, I found you. Are you the David McDaniel that is coming? My husband and I are in the first stages of a church plant and we are hoping to have a church model similar to the one you have at Northpoint. We have read a lot of the church’s resources and watched/listened to much of the material you have. We have also been in touch with GlobalX and had a chance to skype with Jeff Goode at the beginning of the summer. Looking through your blog, I read o “If at all possible, have that support come from people who have specific experience in the model of church you are planting. Don’t be naive. Find someone with your model, declared or not, with 5 years experience.”
o Find a group of peers who are planting churches at the same stage and with the same church model.
I don’t really know anyone in the second group (peers who are using a model similar to NP’s) but if you are indeed coming to Japan, is there anyway we could meet with you? I’m sure you have a very busy schedule, but if you could make even a small window of time, we would be most grateful. Grace and Peace.
